Saami Ski Race 2012

The registration time to Saami Ski Race 2012 ends on March 24, 2012.

Saturday, 31 March

Competition office is open from 12 to 19 o'clock EET

You can post-register and pick-up your bib from the competition office.
The competition office is located at Hetta School Centre, address Puistomäentie 1, 99400 Enontekiö. Tel. +358 40 831 2227. Map

There is no competition office in Näkkälä. Also those skiers who are participating to 60 km race have to pick up their bibs from the competition office in Hetta.
There is a ski waxing service at the competition office too. More information about ski waxing 

Pasta buffet

 
Pasta buffet is served in Lapland Hotel Hetta on March 31,  5 pm -7 pm.

Sunday, 1 April

Competition office is open in Hetta from 7 to 9 EET.
You can pick up your bib on Sunday morning. Also the 60 km skiers are invited to pick up their bib from the competition office in Hetta.
It is not possible to post-register on Sunday.

Start times

At 9:00 90 km. Start area behind the school centre.
At 9:00 30 km. Start area behind the school centre.
At 10:30 60 km. Start area from Näkkälä village. Please note that bibs are only delivered in Hetta competition office.
At 12:00 (Norwegian time) 30 km. Start area from Siebe village in Norway.


From 14 to 15 o'clock CET prize cremony in Kautokeino
At 21:00 (Finnish time) Competition ends

Participation prices

These prices are valid until 24 March, 2012:

The amount of skiers is limited to 500.

Participation fee includes:

  • Medal and diploma
  • Drinks and snacks at the pitstops
  • Bib
  • Shower and sauna in Kautokeino for 90 km and 60 km skiers
  • Soup in Kautokeino, for 90 and 60 km skiers
  • Transporation of equipments and bags to Kautokeino from Hetta or Näkkälä

 

Timing

90 km and 60 km skiers get times. In the 30 km class there is timing too.

Skiing style

The skiing style is free. It is possible to ski classic style on a groomed track.

Bib

Every skier gets a personal bib from the competition office.
Before starting the race every skier has to write their own name, name of the closest relative and contact information, possible illnesses and medical allergies.

All classes have their own colour code. The bib must be placed on the skier's chest before the start.

The weather conditions

If the weather conditions are bad on Sunday April 1, the competition will not be cancelled, but the track will be changed. For example, if the the wind is blowing over 10m/s from the North, there is a snow storm or fog, it is not safe to ski the competition in the open tundra land. In this case, there will be a 40km long race in the forest area in Hetta.
